Attendance
Lessons are conducted on a weekly basis unless otherwise arranged. In the event of lesson cancellation, 24 hours advanced notification is required. One missed lesson by the student will be made up per semester. All lessons missed by the teacher will be made up. There is no refund for classes missed because of student absences. However, if the teacher is given at least twenty-four hours notice that a student will be absent, the teacher will, upon her discretion, give the student a make-up lesson. There will be a maximum of two make-up lessons per school year. However, if students know in advance that they are going to be away for certain lessons in the semester, there is no problem adjusting the schedule for that lesson without penalty. Please understand that the teacher must reserve the right to cancel or dismiss any student who does not follow the recommended guidelines or whose parent does not prescribe to the studio policies and fees.
Bad Weather
If Lexington and Bedford public schools are closed for bad weather (ice, snow, sleet, hurricanes and major storms), the piano studio will be closed as well. This policy pertains only to bad weather, not school flooding, gas leaks or mishaps of that nature, but treacherous weather conditions that prohibit your safety on the road. On a snow day that turns out to be "a nice day after all", call to see if a lesson is possible. I'd like to take advantage of all the good days we can get.
Holidays & Studio Closures
Lessons falling on bank holidays will be rescheduled or credited by the teacher. Students will receive advance notice from the studio regarding any other closures.
Summer Lessons
Many students experience startling musical growth during the summer when academic pressures have eased; students who are away for a month or more are often frustrated by loss of technical facility, practice discipline, and theory skills.
A minimum of 5 summer lessons are expected of all returning students. More are available and encouraged. Summer tuition is payable by the month due on the first lesson of the month.
Credit will not be given for last minute cancellations.
Injuries
Parents, legal guardians of minor students and adult students waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained on studio property or recital premises resulting from normal lesson activity conducted by the student before, during or after lesson time or recital. The studio is not responsible for providing care for students before and after scheduled student activities.
All tuition, fees and schedules are subject to change at any time.
